A couple of days before Christmas and there is still plenty to do!
If you are still baking then here is another French cookie recipe for you to try.
This recipe come from a French book (to be precise a book from Alsace) called “Les Petits Gâteaux d’Alsace” also S’Bredlebuech in Alsacien by Suzanne Roth.
I bought the book a couple of years ago and test a few of the recipes each year to add to my current ones. I tend to make around 20 to 30 different types depending on the time I have and how I feel. Once they are finished, they are bagged and given away to friends and family as Christmas food gifts.
Hope you enjoy trying out this recipe and let me know what you think of it in the comments.
Happy Baking and Merry Christmas Everyone!

Ingredients
150g Egg (without shells)
250g Sugar
25g Green Organic Aniseed
300g Flour Plain

Beat the eggs and sugar (on Speed 2) with the K attachment or with a flat attachment for approx. 30 minutes, the mixture should have doubled in size and look pale.
Add the aniseed
Slowly fold in the flour gently
Using a piping bag, put the dough into either parchment paper or macaron sheets. You need to pipe them like small macarons and try to do it in one go otherwise they look funny.
Leave for 24 hours at room temperature to dry out.
Bake at 180 C for approx. 10 minutes – it can take longer, they need to have a ‘feet’ like macarons (it took me 3 years to get that!). They still taste very nice even if they don’t have the feet.

What a great recipe! I really need to try these out, they look amazing! Thanks for sharing this! Yum!
What a delightful addition to the holiday baking frenzy! The French cookie recipe from “Les Petits Gâteaux d’Alsace” sounds like a festive treat straight from Alsace. The tradition of testing and adding new recipes each year adds a special touch to your Christmas preparations. I can almost taste the joy and effort you put into creating 20 to 30 different types of cookies, and the idea of gifting them to friends and family is heartwarming.
Thank you, my family and friends love these and they make the perfect present as well
These cookies look so interesting – I have actually never heard of them before! I do not know many french cookies at all, to be honest.
