Everybody Works in Sales by Niraj Kapur
[Ad-gifted] So pleased to announce that we are joining the book tour for Everybody Works by Niraj Kapur in Sales and will be sharing our book review today. The book has about 22 chapters and just over 150 pages. Consisting of 27 valuable lessons plus 17 interviews with experts, the book combines unique storytelling and personal development to ensure you have the tools you need to do better in your career.
In a nutshell, if you work for somebody, you earn a living by selling their product or service. If you are self-employed, you earn a living by selling your product or service. When you buy from Amazon, they always recommended other products similar to the ones you are purchasing or have already purchased – that’s selling. When you download a song, movie or TV show from iTunes, they always recommend more similar products. That’s selling.
When you register for most websites, they sell their products or services to you through a regular email. When you attend an exhibition at the NEC, London ExCel, Olympia, Manchester or even a local market, everyone is trying to sell you their product. We all work in sales, yet few people know how to sell or even like selling a product or idea. The book explains this in detail.

What I thought of Everybody Works in Sales by Niraj Kapur?
Niraj emphasizes through out the book that getting proper training is so important as well as being positive. We found the book to be very inspiring and motivational and full of examples on how to lead our lives. Our favourite bit, had to be the interview with people who are not in sales but sell everyday. It was great to get into their head and hear what they had to say about selling.
On the negative side, the only thing we would mention is that the words in the book is quite small (to what we are used to) and would have preferred it to be larger. But otherwise the language used was easy to read and understand with not much jargons.

This is brilliant because many people tend to shy away from selling for fear of being pushy and in reality we are all working in sales in once capacity or another.

It sounds like a really useful book if you’re in that line of work. Love that it’s not a massive read either – short, concise blocks of info that you can absorb easily. Perfect!

This sounds like a really interesting book. I suppose we’re so used to constantly being sold to that we don’t even know that it’s happening half the time!
Yes totally agree Kate, sometimes we dont even know that we are selling and being sold items
While I was never suited to the sales industry I like how he explained that there is more to sales than we think. And you are right in saying that sales influences us all the time!
