How to clean your house at Christmas by Lynsey Crombie

[Ad-gifted] You may ask who is Lynsey Crombie, and how can she tell you about how to clean your house at Christmas? But you’ll be surprised to find that Lynsey is a huge Social Media celebrity (or you may already be a super-fan follower!) with her page Instagram called Lynsey – Queen of Clean, where she has a whopping 167 thousand followers. On her Insta feed, she gives tips on many cleaning conundrums and also does quite a few reviews on cleaning products that are newly available in stores. Once I started reading her feed I also popped over to her website, where I found out a little more about how her cleaning obsession began. 

Here is a brief look on how the Queen of Clean began; She was pregnant with her eldest twin girls (who are now 16 and she also has a 12-year-old son), when she unexpectedly found out that her husband was a paedophile! From hearing this harrowing news, she went into shock labour, which meant her twins were born prematurely at 28 weeks. Cutting a long story short, one of her ways of coping with this horrific news, alongside her counselling, was to clean and scrub everywhere and this is how she managed to move on from what had happened and build up her amazing expertise and knowledge in cleaning, that she now shares with the rest of the world. And yes her ex-husband is now locked away in prison and her children have never had any previous or future contact with him. 

So moving on, you now know that her expertise is real and how she is perfectly equipped in providing any household with some great pre-Christmas cleaning preparations! This is where I can tell you about her fab book. Her book starts with a countdown guide – What I love about this section, is she encourages the use of  list-making – I do this a lot, and not always everything is ticked off, but having a list really helps me focus on what there is to do and makes it all seem less daunting – more often than not I can think I have tonnes of stuff to get through, then I write it down and I find there are just five things on the list. So this top tip from her first few pages was perfect for me and one I would totally recommend for people who are over-massed with attempting their Christmas cleaning schedule! 

Of course, these aren’t the only great tips in there. One of the pages I found super useful, was the double-page titled, Toiletry expiry guide – where, Lynsey provided a list of products, some of which include body wash, toothpaste, and mascara and alongside the product was approximate shelf life. This really saves you wasting stuff you think might be too old to use, and also saves your skin/teeth etc from using something that has been in your cupboards for years! As even if its un-opened could still have gone past its best. Equally a few pages towards the start of the book provide you with recipes on how to make some of your own cleaning products. This was a great find too, as I am always trying to find ways of reducing my use of chemicals in the home, but sometimes it is hard finding things that don’t have chemicals in that truly clean, but Lynsey has plenty of solutions for this.  Alternatively, if you are looking for someone else to help you with cleaning, do checkout the services provided by cleanerslondon.com

What did I think of How to clean your house at Christmas by Lynsey Crombie? 

At certain points, the book I may have felt a little bit like it was stating the obvious, but I realised that it was been done in a way that is informative and not patronising. The great thing about the book is that you can pick and choose which Christmas cleaning chores you want to carry out within the book, as each of the sections has clear headers which makes it easy to navigate through the book. In general, the book is a guide for cleaning all year round, but it has a focus on how you can achieve a lot of your cleaning obstacles that might crop up before Christmas. You basically have a foolproof insight into how to make your house spick and spam ready for you to celebrate with family in a house that will smell as good as the oven on Christmas Day! 

Who would enjoy this book? 

Anyone who needs/wants to know about some traditional cleaning tips, or loves to get organised before the Festive Season.

Lynsey Crombie, is a 30 something mother of three, having had a harrowing start to her adult life, she somehow made the best of it and set up a successful Social Media Management Company and then went on to start an Instagram page and blog orientated around her love of cleaning. Through her success and popularity, she has featured on ITV’s This Morning and has had articles in several home based magazines, one of which included Ideal Home Magazine. Her accomplishments have allowed her two write two books including the one we have reviewed today.
