Do fantasy-based stories enthral you? Do you love big dogs…as in wolves? Well, this next eBook might be the one you are looking for.
This is the first in the series of S E Davies The Wulfin novels called They Had Eyes of Silver. This has to be one of my favourite genres to read about, this and possibly vampires. But getting eBooks with a new story can often be tricky. Here’s a snippet of what you can expect from this fabulous book.
This is the tale of Reina, a young woman, who has a mysterious side to her family that seems shrouded in secrecy. However, she is set to find a way that she can discover the things her grandmother has been keeping from her for years. She decides with her best and oldest friend Alek to make a trip to Belgium, where she knows her family heritage is from. As it happens Alek also has family there, and one member, in particular, is connected to Reina from a summer some years ago, where she met Blaise and who she created a special friendship with. Years have passed and they haven’t been in contact but on her arrival in Belgium, it’s not long before she and Alek are back exploring old friendships that somehow become connected with stories she discovers along the way about her long-lost family.

What I thought of the eBook by S E Davies
When I received the book I was told the deadline to read it was only a week away, I panicked and thought oh no, if this book is awful how am I going to read it in a week? However, I managed to read this book in less than two days, as I simply couldn’t put it down. It’s a captivating story told through Reina, who is the lead character of the book and Blaise her love interest.
At the start, I did struggle due to the way the book is written it seems that the author may have assumed that we knew more about the characters than she had told us. This meant that I went back a few times to re-read sections just to make sure I hadn’t missed bits. But although initially slightly confused, the further into the book I got the more clear things became, as certain parts were filled in – albeit a little late in the story – but still, I managed to follow it nonetheless.
Once everything picked up, I really couldn’t put it down, I was reading the book whilst making my children’s breakfast, whilst making my coffee, and any moment I was free to read I would pick up the book. The story of Reina is so fascinating, that I wanted to find out every twist and turn that came about. And how you were reading through two people and at times three was fun, as you got to experience the same story through different perspectives.

There is a good bit of love interest throughout the book with some fairly descriptive moments, but what I loved about the book is that they aren’t the main focus. The draw to the book is the story and the development of love between the characters and some of the complicated friendships. S E Davies had a great way of writing about different people within the book and although they weren’t main characters you got to know their personalities. I often find that some writers struggle to give their characters depth, but this isn’t a problem for Davies.
As you know I don’t like to give away the story, but you can be sure that there is a good ending to this book. You have baddies and goodies (not to sound like a three-year-old) and you feel like reading the book has been worthwhile when you get to the end, and thankful to know that there will soon be another one, so you don’t feel too sad its all over!
Although you might think this to be a young adult book, I think it’s aimed at 18plus, so although it’s fantasy and about wulfin (this is how they are referred to in the book not werewolves in the book!) it’s definitely for an older audience. This is a great book to take on a summer holiday, and one that can be easily picked up and put down – if you can put it down!
Where can you get your copy of the eBook and how much is it?
You can buy your copy on Amazon. It costs £3.24 for the Kindle version while the paperback retails for £8.90. Please check their website for the latest pricing as this might change.

I love books like this that have powerful, interesting elements but that don’t let those elements overtake the core story. I’ll have to check this out.
