When looking for the best phone for your 10 to 13-year-old, that has top functions but is still reasonable in price can be tricky. But when IMO asked us to review their latest phone – the IMO Q2 Pro – which launched with EE in May this year, we felt like this was a great opportunity to see which boxes it ticked and just how suitable it would be for a day at school or when they want to keep up with friends at home.
IMO are a British-based brand* and launched a phone called IMO Q2 Plus in 2018, due to its huge success they decided to launch the phone we will review today. If you are travelling to Asia it is worth checking out cellphone price Philippines for good rates. To find out more about this perfect kids’ starter phone (or simple adult phone) just keep reading…

What we thought of the IMO Q2 Pro phone
The first thing that struck me and my two older kids was how light the phone is when we pulled it out of the box. It comes with a charger wire and a battery, which you need to put in yourself before use. This is straightforward and only takes a little bit of care put you simply pop the back off the phone and insert the battery as per the instructions – which can also be found inside the box.
It is an android phone and works on the operating system Android Go, it can run on 2G-4G networks, and has a 1GB RAM + 16GBROM memory – see the full spec below – it has a decent enough camera on the back which reaches 5 megapixels and 2 megapixels from the front (for selfies). You tend to find that the front camera is never quite as good as the back, but it will still work well for a cute selfie!
We found the photo quality ok – it’s not as good as some higher-priced phones, but considering this phone is under £40, you really can’t go wrong, and it’s perfectly good at capturing moments for kids and can create videos too. The phone itself is easy to use and my kids found some fun pre-installed games that kept them occupied for a time.

The phone is a slate blue and looks slick and can be carried about easily due to how light it is. It has internet access, so that can view things like YouTube and other social media outlets if old enough. It also can store plenty of contacts and has access to a memory cloud so you won’t lose them if anything happens to the phone. You will need a google account to use the phone but if you don’t have one you can easily create one whilst setting the phone up.
The phone is ideal as a starter, spare or simple phone. It is well suited to kids from age 10 to 14 but is also suited for adults who want say a business phone that isn’t connected to their personal mobile phone or a grandparent who wants to stay in touch with their kids and grandkids. So although we are reviewing it for children, I don’t think an age limit can be set for the phone’s usage.

I have seen this phone and it looks great, it is full of all the features more expensive brands have and an ideal first phone for kids as well
I agree, an ideal first phone indeed for little ones
I wish this was available in the US! We are debating getting our 9-year-old his first phone, but aren’t sure what to get. This is such a great option for kids.

This looks like a great little phone for first-timers. I love that it has everything they want and need without being overly crazy and expensive.
I agree, you don’t want them to have a fancy phone as their first phone
I have not heard of the imo brand before! It has really cool features, I need to look into it.
Hope you do Natalie
I’ve not heard of this one before but I think having a phone that’s made for children that young is important. It was always a debate when I was younger whether I should get a phone before highschool or not haha the internet is such a scary place but its important nowadays to have a phone with you when you’re away from home. Sounds like a great brand.
I am with you there as well, kids are too young to have a phone but it is so important to be connected to them and to keep them safe
Wow, it has great specs. Suit for kids. The brand was not familiar to me but I think this is perfect for kids.
It is a new brand, but one I am sure will gain recognition soon

You are welcome, a great age for them if they are starting to go out or walk to school on their own
I wish this was available when my kids were younger!

I love the idea of this for the grandma and the kids. It’s important to foster that relationship through regular communication.
