It is the week before Halloween’s which means it is pumpkin picking time and carving them in time for the big day.
This has become our yearly family tradition as we enjoy decorating our home in spooky decorations and lighting up pumpkins.
This year we decided to head to Libbys Pumpkin Patch for a fun day out and pick ourselves some pumpkins. Built on the success of last year where Dan and Bethan Thornicroft welcomed over 3000 families to explore and pick there own Pumpkin’s they have decided to do the same this year.
Libby’s Pumpkin Patch and Sunflower Maze is set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside in Gawsworth, Macclesfield. Besides turning into a pumpkin patch, they do 8-acre Sunflower Maze in late summer as well as sell sustainably grown Christmas tree in the lead up to Christmas.

What did we think about it?
We went on Thursday and to be honest it was pouring all morning and only stopped when we arrived but it did not matter as we were dressed appropriately with wellies, waterproofs and hats to keep us warm and dry.
We headed over with friends who had pre-paid for our car entry fee, so we just drove in, parked up and went to get ourselves a wheelbarrow and headed to pick pumpkins. There are lots of pumpkins in various shapes and sizes but be prepared for muddy hands if it is wet.
We spent around an hour at the patch and our kids did have a lot of fun splashing about in muddy puddles and getting stuck in it as well. Most importantly we were also supporting a local family business and having a great day out.
Libbys Pumpkin Patch is family and dog-friendly venue and they also have onsite parking plus a cafe serving homemade cakes and drinks.

How much does it cost to get into Libbys Pumpkin Patch?
Entry costs £5 per car. The pumpkin costs anywhere from £1 for the small ones to £4 for the medium sized ones or £7 for the large ones. There is no particular place to go to to pay for your pumpkins, but one of the staff would walk up to you when you are leaving the patch and walking towards the cafe.
What are their visiting hours?
They are open everyday from 10am to 4pm (Mon to Fri) and 10am to 5pm (Saturday and Sundays).

I have never visited a pumpkin patch, and really do feel like I am missing out. Maybe next year I will steal my grandchildren and take them to one
