Fashion Review: Protest Fall/Winter 20/21 Collection**

[Ad] Calling all mum’s getting ready for the school run/or early bird dog walkers, wanting something warm but stylish to wear when they head out in the morning. What we thought of Protest online shop and product quality

So that we could give you an accurate review on Protest we were asked to order £160 worth of products. We did this just as any customer would do through their website. Their website was easy to navigate, the only issue was occasionally it lagged I think due to the high amount of imagery on the site (but we have pretty slow internet so this won’t have helped). You can go back and forth through to different items easily which I found handy, however, their basket is very small and doesn’t open out onto a full page so it was sometimes hard to see exactly what I had put in there which isn’t great when you’re trying to stick to a budget. That being said the payment process was straight forward too, so everything ran pretty smoothly.

Once ordering I got an instant notification and within that day I was already being informed that the items were picked and ready to be shipped. All the items then arrived within around 1-2 after that. I thought this was really quick. We did have a few sizing issues, but these were quickly resolved. One item also arrived with a few marks present, once again, this was also swiftly resolved. Which I really felt was great customer service. This is definitely something I look out for, when trying new brands.

Within our bundle we got a children’s ski jacket, three kids fleeces, a women’s mid-layer, a fleece jacket, a beanie hat and a kids swimsuit. My choice of items was based on our next ski trip which we have planned for February 2021. I wanted to get my three children some nice fleeces for under their ski clothing and over their thermal, and we always like to go to a hotel with a pool so my eldest daughter, got a treat of a swimsuit too. I ordered a fleece jacket, and a mid-layer for me, as I find a lot of women’s winter wear normally quite boring, and small upgrades like rechargeable heated gloves make a real difference on cold days. Whereas at Protest there is a great selection of really unique stuff.

The quality of the clothing is really something. Each item has been well made and the colours and on point and bright – not wishy-washy in any way. My only little issue was I ordered the recommended sizes for my eldest two children in the fleeces, and they were a little on the tight side. As its a fleece we’d normally pair this with a thermal layer underneath but with the actual size provided have been snug – we therefore re-ordered and returned and went a size up which was much better. I would therefore recommend perhaps sizing up – also what would be handy is if they had a feature on their page where customers had said how well it fitted. But always refer to their measurements in the size chart if you are really unsure.

I on the other hand ordered my size which is a 10 in the women’s mid-layer and it fitted perfectly. So in terms of adult sizing go with what you would normally order. As for the Fleece jacket, there are loads of these available in the women’s ski wear section but I actually ordered a kids one (due to me being so short) It too was a great fit and such good quality. In the women’s section they have such a nice variety of these it was hard to choose which one to go with. These are perfect for throwing on either under the ski jacket for women . or as a light jacket to wear if its cool outside but not raining. The fleece is so snuggly soft too, I have worn it loads already, indoor and out!

I have to say I was really impressed with the choices of women’s fleeces and zip-ups, I actually spent around two evenings browsing throughout all the items that were available and particularly loved some of the women’s ski and snowboarding jackets too.  What I also liked about the website was the fact that where they had photos of models in the clothes you had the option to buy outfit, which means that you didn’t have to go searching around the site for each item if you loved the whole look of that particular outfit. This is a great feature and made finding the clothing you liked so much easier.

And although I have written this review from a women’s perspective, I can’t leave out the menswear (although we didn’t order anything for my husband this time, in this review, oops for him!) where you can find another great selection of items. I love how Protest cater for several tastes from a safer and more coordinated look to the perhaps more on the edge and unique look. Checking out the men’s ski jackets and snowboard jackets  was easy too and again as with the women’s wear you could look at some of the inspiration boxes and actually shop for those items from the image. Which as I mentioned earlier makes it so easy to get just the look you want with only a few clicks.

Protest is a brand that was set up by a small group of snowboarders back in 1993. They are from Holland and admit that all be-it that there is a definite lack of hills and mountains in Holland it didn’t stop them from creating a brand that is specifically designed for the pistes further afield. As they expanded and grew over the years they have added to their board wear and created more surf orientated clothing too.
