Giveaway & Review: Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag*

We’re big fans of camping and the outdoors, so we can’t wait to pack up our campervan and head out on family adventures as soon as spring arrives.

But going camping doesn’t mean you can’t be comfy and cosy, and that’s why we couldn’t resist road-testing the Night Owl 3-in-1 sleeping bag from the Fine Bedding Company.

The sleeping bag’s 7-tog, three-season warmth rating is designed for staying snug in autumn, winter and spring. It combines the familiar comfort of a duvet with the convenience and practicality of a sleeping bag. What’s more, you can use it as a double or two singles.

What did we think of the sleeping bag?

The first thing that struck me was the quality: it’s a far cry from the sleeping bag that accompanied me on my round-the-world backpacking travels more than 20 years ago.

But camping has certainly evolved over the years. After all, we have glamping these days.

So, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little bit of luxury when you check in to a campsite.

The Night Owl 3-in-1 sleeping bag, which comes in a stylish “twilight blue” shade, is a welcome addition to our camping kit.

And as well as being great for campervan trips, it will come in handy for sleepovers, too.

It has easy, two-way access and an auto-lock zip that keeps you secure and snug all night. Plus, it’s topped with a fabric finish, so you’ll feel like you’re sleeping in your bed at home, wherever you are.

I immediately felt super-cosy as soon as I snuggled into the sleeping bag, and I went on to enjoy a restful night’s sleep. I can see why it isn’t recommended for summer, though, because it could be a bit too warm on a hot summer’s night (yes, we do occasionally get those in the UK).

I haven’t tried washing it yet, but the label describes it as “home washable” and “quick dry in 90 minutes”. I’d advise checking the online care instructions first because it’s recommended to unzip into individual sleeping bags and then wash separately at 40°C in a large-capacity, 7kg-plus machine. For drying, tumble-dry on a cool setting or line dry. (Don’t bleach and don’t dry clean.)

The sleeping bag has a super-soft, printed polyester cover, while the filling is 100% Smartfil® polyester from recycled PET bottles. It also comes with a matching carry bag, and it took two of us to squeeze the sleeping bag into it.

Admittedly, it’s more expensive than an average double sleeping bag, but if you like to make your camping trips a little more luxurious and super-cosy, this is perfect.
