If you’re anything like us, carpet cleaning is one of those jobs you rarely get around to. So when we were given the chance to treat these unloved floor coverings to a revamp by Fantastic Services, we couldn’t say no.
Currently expanding across the UK, the company offers more than 25 home services, ranging from domestic cleaning to pest control.
We booked a date and time for their carpet cleaners to visit our home in Nantwich, Cheshire to spruce up our lounge carpet and hall rug, both desperately in need of some TLC. We also gave details of the fabrics in advance of the appointment.
On the day, Ruslan and Martin arrived in a professionally-branded vehicle. The pair were polite and friendly and put on overshoes before starting work.
They started with our striped hall rug, which, although regularly vacuumed, has probably never had a proper clean. This hardwearing runner has seen a lot of feet – and paws – over the years!
Ruslan and Martin began by vacuuming the rug, and then applied a pre-spray, before using a machine to deep clean the rug with a chemical solution and extract the moisture and dirt.
Next, they repeated the same process with our large, oatmeal-coloured lounge carpet, which has long been riddled with stains and has been part of the house since the previous owners.
Our verdict
The work on both the rug and the carpet took about 35 minutes. It was a warm and sunny day, so Ruslan and Martin put the rug outside to dry, which we were told would take about two hours. Meanwhile, the lounge carpet would need about three hours to dry, with the door open.
We were impressed with the results, especially because the cleaners had managed to get rid of stains that had been there for years.
The work means we can put off replacing our lounge carpet for at least a few more months (maybe even longer). It’s made a big difference to the overall appearance of our lounge, a room where we spend a lot of our time and often entertain.
We were also pleased with the work on our hall rug and can now proudly welcome visitors to our home, instead of hoping they don’t look down at the floor!
