What did we think about it?
We ordered these wooden blinds as my son’s room gets a lot of glare in the summer and with him being a light sleeper, the blackout curtains is not sufficient on its own to stop the sunrays coming through the window and waking him up in the morning. Hence we took up the offer to review these wooden blinds to see if they made a difference to his sleep.
We roughly knew which colour and wood type we wanted but having the option of ordering the Free samples to check in person just reassured us that we were making the right choice before we confirmed the order.
Once the order was placed, the delivery process was quick and my husband installed the blinds within a couple of hours. That being said, the instruction sheet was photocopied and was illegible even when we enlarged it using the magnifying glass/phone app. Luckily my husband is used to doing DIY at home hence he was able to figure out how to install the blinds without any instructions.
I also have to add that there were no screw included with the blinds, we had to use our own screws and luckily we had the right ones at home (as the wooden blinds are heavy), otherwise we would have had to head to the shops to get them.
The blinds are heavy and very sturdy, the slat size was 50mm hence they looked the part once fitted. Compared to the normal plastic blinds, these wood blinds are easier to clean, waterproof and don’t seem to show dirt easily.
My son uses both the blinds and blackout curtains and found that he sleeps much better. Having blinds also means that he is able to prevent glare when he is using his laptop in his room.
The blinds also came with a safety warning to remind us about the dangers of looped cords which is a great reminder for parents.
Why are blinds better than curtains
Blinds are perfect for your home if you want more sunlight coming into your home in winter, less light in summer and yet you still have some privacy. These wood blinds work as a natural insulator hence a great way to help you conserve energy and retain heat during the winter months. You can also rotate the blinds to prevent glare at any time of day.
How much did these blinds cost and how can I order mine?
The Elkin Abachi Elite Wood which we ordered measuring 117cm x 117cm cost £249.35 and you can order yours from here.

I really love the look of your blinds. They seem like they were fairly easy to install, too. I love that because it saves an installation fee!
They were easy to install as my husband is good at diy
These are really nice! I love the wood finish and the ease of installation. We have to get new blinds, and this is exactly what we’ve been looking for.
These are so sturdy and well made, it does keep the daylight out much better than black out curtains
Great you’ve got the blinds you like and appreciate. Finding a provider and installer of something like that is not easy.
No it is not, so it is great that we could do it ourselves to save the cost of installation
