We love beauty products and often get sent various products for us to feature on our blog. We were recently sent some products by Crabtree & Evelyn to test and review. These products included the Pomegranate & Argan Oil Body Cream, Goatmilk & Oat Soothing Bath Milk as well as Refreshing Body Wash. Crabtree & Evelyn has been a popular brand which has a strong following for nearly 50 years and their brand continues to expand in Asia, do read on to see what we thought of it.
Goatmilk and oat bath milk
Eager to channel my inner Cleopatra, I unscrewed the cap on my Crabtree & Evelyn bath milk and sloshed it under the warm running water. Sadly, I had no grapes to hand (and no-one around to feed them to me) and my bath is considerably smaller than the one the legendary Egyptian ruler would have no doubt bathed in. But as the gentle aroma of the creamy liquid filled the air, I closed my eyes and transported myself to Ancient Egypt and the time of the pharaohs. Legend has it that Cleopatra bathed daily in asses’ milk as part of her beauty regime. And while there was no donkey’s milk for me, I had Crabtree & Evelyn’s luxurious and creamy goatmilk and oat bath milk to soak in.
The formula has been produced with sensitive skin types in mind. It uses free range goat’s milk sourced from a family-run farm. Combining gentle oat kernel oil and honey, it treats the skin to a deeply soothing, silk-like bath.
£28 for 500ml (£19.60 if on sale)
This is the perfect antidote to a long, tiring day juggling work and parenthood. And with the addition of a few candles, you have your very own home spa. The bath milk provides a soothing soak, and I love that the aroma isn’t sweet or overpowering, but rather gentle and relaxing. Of course, it’s not cheap. But who doesn’t deserve to spoil themselves just like Cleopatra every once in a while?
La Source – refreshing body wash
I’m a fan of any beauty product that reminds me of the sea, and this refreshing body wash does exactly that. Part of Crabtree & Evelyn’s seaweed-rich La Source collection, it offers an in-shower wake-up call, any time of the year.
Enriched with ocean goodness, the body wash cleanses, conditions and moisturises in one step. It features Crabtree & Evelyn’s refreshing marine blend of anti-oxidant-rich green seaweed extract and purifying brown algae extract. Plus, it’s formulated with mineral-rich Dead Sea salts.
£16 for 250ml (£12.80 if on sale)
I couldn’t quite hear the soft sound of waves lapping the shore, but the reviving scent certainly conjured up happy memories of days at the seaside. I’d recommend this body wash, particularly as part of your morning cleansing ritual – if you can afford the price tag, of course!
Pomegranate and argan oil body cream
Like many people, I’m prone to dry skin, so I’m a firm believer in the benefits of moisturising. Among my favourite products are body creams – the more intensive the better. So I couldn’t wait to try this pomegranate and argan oil moisturiser.
This pot of hydrating goodness invites you to give your body an intensive dose of moisture, banishing dry skin and restoring silky softness. Featuring soybean oil and shea butter, together with pomegranate seed, grapeseed, argan, pistachio and sweet almond oils, the luxurious cream works to soften skin.
£28 for 250ml (£19.60 if on sale)
As soon as I unscrewed the lid, I knew I was in for a treat – the scent is glorious! Some intensive body creams can be too greasy and take a long time to absorb – but not this one. It’s easily absorbed, while at the same time not losing any of its luxurious properties. This product is a wonderful, indulgent treat, especially after a long soak in the bath.
About Crabtree & Evelyn
Crabtree & Evelyn is an international retailer of body, fragrance and home care products with stores globally. Founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1968 by Cy Harvey, who first set out on his travels across the globe 45 years ago. Driven by a belief that he could improve lives by the discoveries he made and the experiences he crafted. These explorations led to products and collections that were as much about storytelling as they were about wellbeing and beauty. He was inspired by the philosophy of their namesake – 17th century horticulturist John Evelyn. One of the first naturalists and conservationists, Evelyn was a visionary of his time. He recognised the need for humans to commune with nature in order for them to connect with themselves. A journey of growth that he thought would ultimately benefit society as a whole. This same journey continues to happen today. But now we live in a super connected world, our personal connections – to ourselves, each other and natural world – risk getting lost in the noise. Evelyn’s mission was to explore everything and kept the best. Harvey’s was to make everyday life better. Ours is to empower everyone to explore and grow. Redefining what beauty means along the way. Beauty takes many different flavours. It’s more than what you put on your skin. It’s how you feel. Your attitude to life. And they want to explore this in a multitude of ways. Because it’s only when you really explore that you can truly grow. The brand was acquired in January 2016, by Nan Hai Corporation of Hong Kong.
