Wellness Review of the Liforme Yoga Mat*

Liforme Yoga Mat

[Ad-gifted] Wellness starts from within and throughout this month we have so many ethical, sustainable, vegan and alcohol-free goodies to show you – all of which will help you have a clean and energising January.

Our latest review blog is from Liforme – a wellness brand that has created the ultimate eco-friendly yoga mat.

Generally, yoga mats aren’t made from the most environmentally friendly materials and although when you buy them you tend to have them for a good while, if you dispose of them, they are almost impossible to bio-degrade and if burnt release a whole host of strange toxins into the environment. This is where Liforme comes in – their mat has been designed in the most sustainable way possible keep reading to find out more and what we thought of this uniquely created mat.

What I thought of the Liforme Yoga Mat

When receiving the Liforme yoga mat I was surprised at how light the bag and mat were. It comes in a handy carry case and when unrolled is long and clearly big enough for a good range of yogis. The mat is soft and even though it’s very thin it was really pleasant to sit on and my knees weren’t in any discomfort.

Interestingly unlike conventional mats the Liforme mat is made from sustainable and specially designed materials, that took five years of strategic development to get just right. The top layer is eco-polyurethane, followed by a further two more layers. The second layer is a patented CleanGrip® which is a non-absorbant layer that is bonded free of toxic glues and magically allows moisture (like sweat) to quickly evaporate from the top surface. The final layer is rubber, which has such good grip there is no risk of your mat moving around when placed on the gym floor.

Another innovative addition to the mat is the markings that provide you with some guidance on yoga positioning. There are several designs available, well over 15, plus they also have travel mats you can take away with you. Equally, they have yoga pads – great to add an additional layer to your mat or use in a smaller space. If you have children that often join you doing yoga Liforme also have a range of kids’ mats. I think this is a great addition – I am actually pretty short and would also have benefited from maybe one of the kids’ mats!

The mats are pricey, but I really think you’re investing more than a mat when you buy from Liforme. The mats stand out in terms of quality against regular plastic-based mats, however, I would be interested to know how they wear down over time. This may have to be an add-on to our review in a few years! I have to say I do love this mat and I can’t wait to take it to my next class of yoga, piyo or pilates and get the full effect of the grip.

I love the color of the mat and that it is eco-friendly! I usually look for matts that are a little thicker than this, but it still looks like it would be comfortable.

Investing in a good quality yoga mat is so important which I learned early on especially for your knees, neck, and back. Thanks for sharing about this one!

If you’re buying a mat like this you need it to be supporting and good quality, so I’d expect to pay a bit more. I bought a general mat (not specifically for yoga) for working out and spending a bit extra to get a good cushioned one has made working out so much more comfortable x

Agree, especially when you are putting your whole body weight on it, so it needs to be good quality

This mat is so pretty! I love the design. I took a promotional yoga lesson recently and enjoyed it, and would love to pick up yoga sometime. It is nice to know what to look for in a yoga mat.
