With the recent lockdown and with us having to spend more time at home, we have taken little steps in between homeschooling and working from home to make small changes to our house to make it look fresher, cleaner and more contemporary looking. In an attempt to get the hallway more tidy and organised, we decided to get this White & Oak chest of five-drawer from VonHaus. Our blog followers would remember that we have previously featured VonHaus’s Colonial Storage Box under our Christmas Guide last year which still looks as new and well built as we received it. So if you are keen to get some DIY and interior decorating done, read on.
We received two flat-pack boxes filled with all the wooden panels, screws and bolts. Each of the items was clearly marked and labelled to correspond with the easy-to-follow instructions in the booklet so getting them assembled was fairly easy. My husband is quite handy with DIY and it took him about two hours to assemble this chest of drawers from start to finish.
What did we think about it?
The chest of drawers which measures 99 (l) x 39 (d) x 101 (h) cm is well made and requires self-assembly as it arrived in a flat-pack. I love how spacious the chest of drawers are, featuring 2 small oak-effect drawers on the top and 3 larger drawers stacked underneath. This meant that ample of storage to give our hallway a cleaner and neater look. It also came with a strap to fasten the shelf to the wall (in case you have little children) we did not use this as our children are a lot older now.
I also love the soft-close drawer feature which means that when the drawer is pushed, it glides to a certain point and then hydraulics take over and the drawer gently and quietly closes. The two-tone colour combination of the natural wood chest of drawers gave it a more pleasing and modern aesthetic. If you notice clearly, the drawer handles are placed off-centre on purpose to give it a quirky touch that adds a pop of personality, so if you are OCD then this might not be for you. The only thing that we were not happy about was that they used a lot of styrofoam in their packaging. Being environment-conscious we quickly noticed this and only wished they had used biodegradable based materials. That being said, we do own a few other VonHaus products and are always pleased by their level of quality and how sturdy their products are. Another point to add, the chest stands on-trend tapered legs which gave it some elevation and height which was another cool design feature.

Oh wow this looks amazing! And such a bargain too! I have been looking for some new drawers and these look perfect! I really like that they have soft close drawers too.

That is a lovely chest of drawers. I like the white and oak combination. It would fit well in any room. The price is very reasonable too. If we will be needing a chest of drawers in the future, Von Haus would be the first place I would look.
