April Gift Guide – Easter Themed*

This month, we are sharing some fantastic Easter themed gift items you can get your children, family and friends in time for Easter.  We start off our April Easter Gift Guide by sharing packets of Eggs Galore and Jelly Bunnies Sweets from HARIBO, this is followed by Warninks Advocaat by De Kuyper for the adults.

Get egg-cited for Easter with HARIBO

One thing my children love besides chocolate eggs for Easter are HARIBO sweets!  HARIBO (HAns RIegel BOnn) was established in 1920 by the Heinen & Riegel company in a small kitchen with nothing more than a sack of sugar, a marble slab, a stool, a stove, a copper pot and a rolling pin.  Fast forward to 2022 and this small German company has now grown into a global market leader in fruit gummies and liquorice.

This Easter, we are showcasing two types of HARIBO sweets in our Easter guide which would make fabulous presents to little ones or adults alike. The first is the Jelly Bunnies, while the second, the Eggs Galore which are both sharing bags hence perfect for parties and family-gathering.

These can be eaten as they are or added on to Easter cupcake as decorations.  A packet of Eggs Galore 160g is priced at £1 and they contain a combination of the iconic Fried Eggs and Easter Egg shaped pieces while Jelly Bunnies are priced at £0.90 and consist of bunny shaped pieces with the popular texture found in Jelly Babies.  These can be found in most shops and grocery stores.

Warninks Advocaat

We love making sure that our guide has something for the whole family, so for the adults, we are sharing a delicious drink called Warninks Advocaat by De Kuyper.  This cocktail creates a delicious blend of the custardy like texture which is smooth and delicious and perfect this Easter.

If you are wondering, Petrus and Anna De Kuyper start making and selling casks in 1695 , over the years their family grows and their third son moves the business into distilling Gin, by 1769 the De Kuyper family they become the biggest distillery owners in Rotterdam. As the family changes over the years as does the way the business works, and with the occasional ups and downs, De Kuper manages to keep going and is now in its 325th year and still family owned.

Within their business they produce, own and distribute a number of well known brands that are synonyms with the UK market and the most recognisably Warninks Advocaat, which is a firm favourite during the Christmas period.

Warninks Advocaat retails for £12 and you can get your bottle from Tesco, Sainsburys or Morrisons.

6 Coloured Chalk Eggs

If you are looking for non-chocolate or non-sweet based Easter gifts, then these coloured chalk eggs from PomPoms are the perfect gift!  What we love love is that these eggs are eco-friendly as they come in plastic-free designs.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter Cottage Kit

Our chocolate engineering skills were put to the test with the fabulous family Easter treat by Cadbury!

We chopped, melted and glued (with melted chocolate) together our edible masterpiece. It was pretty tricky, but with a bit of balancing we managed to create our version of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter Cottage.

It might not look quite as picture perfect as the one on the box but don’t let that worry you! This is so much fun and regardless of what it looks like, as long as it’s built with clean hands and put together with minimal licking of fingers it will be just as delicious as a perfect creation and example provided by Cadbury.

I have to say we love our chocolate drips and drops and can’t wait to dig into this, having somehow restrained my children – we currently have it on display in the dining room. The Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter Cottage Kit is £12 and can be ordered directly by Cadbury here.

The kit includes, two small bars of Dairy Milk, two special edition bunny Dairy Milk, two large bars, two small packets of white chocolate buttons and two small packs of Mini Eggs.  You have some easy to follow instructions and an example of what you should aim for on the front of the box.   We highly recommended this kit for Easter if you have lots of children around over the holidays, as what could be more fun that making a cottage you can eat!

Green & Black Organic Dark Collection Chocolate Egg

Research says that Dark chocolate is not only a rich source of antioxidants and minerals but is actually good for you as it contains less sugar than milk chocolate.   So it is a no-brainer that this is the perfect gift to give those who love indulging in their chocolate but want to watch their health as well.

Founded in London in 1991, by husband and wife, Craig Sams and Jo Fairley.  Craig was the organic pioneer, opening Britain’s first natural food shop in 1969. Upon his quest for organic peanuts, he came across what was soon to be Green & Black’s – organic cocoa. He commissioned a sample of chocolate with 70% cocoa, real vanilla, and most importantly it was organic. The first of its kind in the UK and in 1994, their organic chocolate was certified by the Fairtrade Foundation and the rest is history.

This beautiful looking collection box consists of a 345g G&B dark chocolate shelled Easter egg as well as two of their most luxurious bars, the 90g dark chocolate with ginger and the 90g 70% dark chocolate.  I find G&B chocolates really indulgent and only need a small piece as a treat after my meal.  Priced at £10, you can purchase this box from most supermarkets or online here (order by noon for next day delivery).
