What better way to immerse yourself into Spring than with a spot of painting. I love to paint, as so do my children. From being little I often encouraged them to paint and most frequently with watercolours, as I always thought they made less mess and were, at times, easier to master than other forms of paint.
This is why I love our next review, where I get to tell you about Watercolour Art Studio from Art Lab by Canal Toys. We received the Watercolor Studio set and my eldest has decided to review it. It makes the perfect Spring time birthday gift, ideal for a teen who likes to craft. So if you have a young teen birthday in the next few months, keep reading to find out what my daughter thought of this creative box set…

What we thought of Watercolour Art Studio.
Watercolour Studio from the time my daughter saw the box (and my sons) was a hit. They were instantly keen to find out what was inside. Opening the box, everything was easy to find and straightforward to set up. My daughter took around 5 minutes to get everything in place. Once she had done that she began to fill the compartments (as directed) with water, and get all her stationary ready to start her first painting.
The fun aspect to this set, is that everything is positioned within handy reach whilst you make your art. Your pot of water, is attached to the tray and your paints are in position and your paint brushes have a place where they stand up ready for you to make your art.

Whats in the box?
• 1 x Studio
• 15 x Watercolour sheets
• 8 x Watercolour paints
• 5 x Stencils
• 2 x Brushes
• 1 x Marker
• 1 x Pencil
• 1 x Eraser
• 1 x Tape
• Watercolour guide
What is great about this set is it allowed my daughter to explore techniques she had never tried before. Her first piece of art incorporated using tape. She made some patterns with the tape and then painted within the gaps, using a combination of paint brush and the water brush (which is a brush that you can fill with water.
Once it was dry she peeled off the tape and then using the marker she wrote a slogan to finish off her piece, She achieved this simple yet beautiful artwork, by using the handy watercolour guide that comes with the kit. So if your teen is a novice they can teach themselves new skills using the guide sheet, giving explanations and examples of how to achieve and creative different pieces of work. All in all, this kit was a huge success and I expect will be well used over the Easter holidays, not just by my daughter, but my younger sons too!
Where can you get your Watercolour Art Studio?
You can get yours here on Amazon and it costs £27.99 which is the perfect price for a teen gift and its light enough to post as a small package. Do check their website for the latest pricing as this may change.
