Books about boy and girl bodies for curious kids
[Ad-gifted] We were sent two children’s books to review, both written by Alex Waldron under the Fred & Woody Series and published by Ruby Tuesday Books about boys and girls bodies for curious kids.
As a parent, I think it is so important to talk to children confidently about their bodies, hygiene, safeguarding and consent and both these books allowed me to openly discuss these matters in an engaging and fun way with my children.

What did we think of Books about boy and girl bodies for curious kids ?
The book is great not only for parents but for carers and teachers as well as it helps to initiate the conversation with young children about their private parts and the importance of consent. The hand-drawn illustrations makes the book fun to read (anticipate lots of giggles from the kids when they see these) as it captivated both my children’s attention. I got to explain to both of them that we are all different and perfect in our own way and come in all shapes and sizes, even our body parts. Most importantly it is their body and they have the right to say NO. In a nutshell, the book basically helped me initiate conversations about their bodies without feeling awkward about it. I read both the books with my daughter and son together as I felt it was educational for them to read each other’s books.
My almost 7-year-old son said that he liked the pictures in the book and that he learnt that his body was his alone and he had the right to say NO. My 9+-year-old daughter said that she enjoyed reading the books and learning more about the shapes of the body parts as well as all the names the private parts are known as.
Alex, the author, has created two brothers Fred and Woodie and their cousin Stevie, with the help of Big Nan as the main characters in the book to help children understand and relate to the picture book better.
There is also a useful section at the back of each book packed with tips and ideas for the grown-ups to get the most from the book for their little ones, by a highly-trained Relationships and Sex Education Trainer.

If I had children I would certainly make reading a very important cornerstone for their education and imagination!
I love love love the idea!!! I grew up in a house that never talked about these stuff…too bad!!! I am getting the books for a friend of mine.
My daughter (almost 5) is completely obsessed with willys and moo-moos. I am not really quite sure how to manage the obsession & totally at a loss as to just how to approach it. These books feel like I could get some kind of control & keep her entertained without her going on about it in Pizza Hut like she did the other day (that’s one of many haha)
Your daughter is so funny! Yes these books would come in handy for sure as the graphics and the characters are so child friendly
My nephews love to read. I make it a point to get them involved. I grew up in a home where books were all over the place.

Okay I would be lying if I said I didn’t laugh hysterically when I saw the titles of the books. But as you know from following my site too, I also love emotionally intelligent REAL books written for kids. As such, this is absolutely something that I will purchase for my kids. I agree, sometimes it can be so awkward to speak to little kids as you don’t know where to start. So the book is a big help.

I’d love to win because we’ve got both a boy and a girl and I know they will soon start asking questions about bodies. I’d be more than happy to answer them but I don’t think my sex education was ever all that brilliant!

I have twin boys both with autism and special needs, this book would help us talk about their bodies, they are both visual learners so the pictures would help us explain sex education and hopefully help them have a good understanding.

I would love both of these for my curious son! They look great for taking away the embarrassment that can happen with sex education.
