Toy Review: Rainbow Unicorns Games from Orchard Toys
[Ad-Gifted] We love Orchard Toys in our house and have played quite a few of the different games, so my unicorn-crazy four-year-old was very excited when the Rainbow Unicorn Game arrived.
It’s aimed at children aged 3-5 years but could easily entertain older siblings and parents to make it a game the whole family can play. The playing pieces are quite small, so it’s not recommended for children under three years.
The box contains 50 unicorn heads and tails cards, a playing board, four unicorn playing pieces and character stands, one pot of gold piece and an instruction leaflet. It’s a compact box so doesn’t take up much space and would be a great game to take on holiday.
The game can be played with between two and four players, each choosing their own unicorn playing piece. Players take turns to pick up tail cards and match them to their unicorn heads. For every unicorn they successfully match they move one step closer to winning the magical pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
What we thought of Rainbow Unicorns Games ?
The game was quick and easy to set-up. The unicorn characters and rainbow playing board are bright, colourful and fun, so very appealing to little ones.
Orchard Toys is all about ‘learning made fun’ and Jemma has always enjoyed their matching games, starting with their Farmyard Heads and Tails Game when she was two years old.
Jemma helped to set up, sorting the cards into heads and tails ready to start the game. And she loved picking her unicorn playing piece.
This game is perfect for my little preschooler, it develops her matching skills, but also helps with developing her memory skills. Jemma loves memory games, and her skills are really sharpening every time we play the Rainbow Unicorns Game. In fact, the game highlighted that she has a much better memory than me!
The game is great for teaching focus and learning to take turns. It is also a very social game that encourages conversations with your fellow players.

Jemma and I have played the game the two of us, and the three of us have played it as a family too, but I think she could easily play it with one or two of her little friends now she knows how to play it.
When we had finished playing, she also spent some time playing with it by herself, making up her own little game with her own ‘Jemma rules’ – perfect for encouraging creativity and having fun!
Younger kids, who perhaps have not developed memory skills yet, can still have lots of fun with this game, recognising the colours and matching the heads and tails.
My daughter’s unicorn obsession is still going strong (it’s lasted about two years so far!) so it’s great to find a game that leans into this and makes sure that learning is definitely fun.

Where can you buy the Orchard Toys Rainbow Unicorns Games ?
You can buy it from Orchard Toys and it costs £9.75.

That toy reminds me of something similar that I loved when I was a kid. I can’t remember if they were unicorns but the pieces looked like those.
