Space by Jan van der Veken
(From Sputnik to the International Space Station)

If you have a 10-year-old child who loves all things Space then Space (from Sputnik to the International Space Station) by Jan van der Veken would be the perfect book to gift this Christmas.  The book shares the journey to the moon and beyond in this beautifully illustrated and entertainingly informative history of space travel.

How to Handle Money by Kia Commodore

I think money is an important subject and teens should be taught to manage it from high school. If you are not aware, the author, Kia Commodore is the founder of the highly successful Pennies to Pounds platform, a financial literacy hub created to empower young people by enabling them to shape their future with complete financial knowledge. She has since written and published How to Handle Money aimed at older teens and young adults as they get ready to leave college and head into the work force.

The book is written in lay man’s term with clear explanation about saving, spending money as well as investing from a young age.  This is great as you don’t find many books out there available for teens or young adult talking about money.

The book is packed with practical tips and real-world examples as well as the basics of budgeting, art of smart spending, dos and don’ts of borrowing, an intro to investing as well as how you can be in control of your future. I love how visually interesting the book is, as it is written in point forms, with illustrations and important notes boxed up, which makes the book interesting and not boring to read.  Definitely a great Christmas gift idea to get older teenagers so they can start thinking about their future. The book retails for £8.99 and you can purchase it directly from Collins.

I think how to handle money is such a good book for teens so they can understand things earlier. I didn’t have much financial education as a teen and think I would have made some different decisions if I had x
