What did we think of the Rebel Girls Jigsaw Puzzle?

My daughter has been a huge jigsaw fan and been playing with them since she was a 1-year plus. She also loves the stories behind the Rebel Girls Books and is inspired by the heroic women throughout histories such as Queen Elizabeth I and Serena Williams. Now the books were published on the back of a phenomenally successful crowdfunding project on Kickstarter and were the brainchild of entrepreneurs Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo who, having researched the lack of female role models in children’s literature, decided to write books which told a different story and have sold over 4.5 millions copies worldwide.  Inspired by this, Gibson Games have teamed up with the team from Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls to produce these puzzles.

We received 2 puzzles from Gibsons Games the first is a 100pcs puzzle which was easier for my 10-year-old to complete by herself. The second puzzle which was 500pcs took a little while longer (we also gave her a helping hand with this).   The jigsaw puzzles are of great quality and made from reforested hardwoods hence making them 100% recycled.  I also used the opportunity to point out some of the iconic women and what made them famous to my children, so that’s home learning history lesson sorted right there!  Personally, I have always encouraged my children to solved jigsaw puzzles as it has been widely known that solving puzzles help exercise the left and right sides of your brain at once and also help with visual-spatial reasoning. As I write this, my house is so quiet as my daughter is still in bed while my 7-year-old son who is an early riser like me is calmly doing the 100pcs puzzle on his own. Bliss!

When I first started doing the jigsaw I spent a long time doing it as I was new to it, now because I have practised doing it I can do it in a shorter time.
