As we head into week 3 of homeschooling and social distancing due to COVID-19, it is slowly becoming a challenge to keep little ones entertained and off electronic gadgets (which can seem like an easy option). For me, being creative and thinking about how to educate children in a fun way matters. We do lots of different things at home, for instance, after about a week and a half of doing Joe Wicks PE, my children got bored, so now they each pick 4 dance moves from Just Dance every morning which is equally fun to do. We also have been watching daily live youtube videos such as Science with Maddie Moate, Myleene’s Music Klass, Learning Maths with Carol Vorderman amongst doing their written homework. So having fun toys is so important to keep them active and reduce screen time. In this blog post, we will be featuring Wicked Kick, Indoor Booma Boomerang and the Mega Jump from Wicked Mania in our post. These are fun toys which you can play indoors or outdoors (when the weather is good). Keep on reading to find out more.
Wicked UKick
This is definitely a unique toy and one which can be quite addictive as you want to keep bouncing it over and over again. We were told that the UKick has been voted the best new toy at the London Toy Fair. At first glance, it does look a little strange…a fusion between the badminton shuttlecock with a bouncy feature. The aim of the game is to keep UKick off the ground for as long as you can by using your hands or feet. You would need to keep moving and you will also tend to use a lot of hand-eye coordination which a great form of exercise. My son mentioned that to get it to bounce, you will need to bounce it on the feathers and not the weights. Also the more weights you add, the higher it will bounce. My daughter mentioned that to remove the weights, you need to pull the feathers out one by one first and there are 5 weights in totals which you can adjust to increase/decrease the skill level. Recommended for children aged 6 and above, the UKick retails at £8 and you can purchase it here.
Indoor Booma Boomerang
The indoor Booma Boomerang is great as it is made of soft, safe foam so my son has been happily bouncing this off the walls and photo frames and nothing has been damaged. The boomerang is made from specially engineered ‘memorang’ foam, which can be tuned for different flight paths. This kept my son busy throwing it about in our living room during study break times. My daughter also had a go at it and said that you need to throw it at an angle for it to come back and yes, it does work!! (although I still have not been able to master it yet). It is stated that it will fly 4-6 metres either indoors or outdoor (on a day when it is not too windy). We have just been playing with this indoors at the moment. Mega Jump Single Jump Rope
It has been a while since my children have been playing with a jump/skipping rope, so it was lovely to receive the Mega Jump Single Jump Rope. The jump rope is great for both beginner or someone who is more advanced and offers smooth rotation. Before you start, you will need to adjust the length of the rope using their rope release mechanism according to the height. The instruction asked us to measure and cut the rope, but my kids decided to just twist the ends of the rope and insert it into the handle so the height of the rope can be adjusted again when they grow. Just take of the cap of the handle, remove the clip and cut/adjust the rope to size. My daughter used this to skip indoors but we had to use it outdoors as we did not have much room to move about. Your welcome, yes keeping kids entertained can be a challenge for sure, so I have to try to figure out new things to keep them interested
The indoor boomerang sounds like a pretty neat toy to play inside with, without worrying that it will break any windows. The skipping rope is a lot of fun as well, I remember when I was a child I used to be able to do so many tricks with the rope.

This looks like a great range of toys and I know my kids would love them. The indoor boomerang does worry me though lol as sure my boys would end up destroying something.
Don’t worry about the boomerang as it is made from very very soft foam and you can throw it at practically anything indoors and it won’t even scratch the surface
