Holistic Earth’s Spa Relaxation Gift Set

[Ad-gifted] January is a month of celebration and resolutions and with a New Year comes our hope to start it with some much needed detoxing, after all that rushing around and visiting, you just want to relax at home come January!  What better than with a beautiful pamper set from Holistic Earth.  Holistic Earth is small company whose focus is on wellness products that are environmentally friendly and handmade. Melissa is the owner and creator of all the beautiful products you can find on her Etsy shop. She is also a qualified Reiki Master and works from her home-based studio in Macclesfield, Cheshire providing treatments as well as creating natural made soaps and candles that are hand-poured from soy wax.

We received the rustic brown box with a loose hessian ribbon tied around it to keep the box closed, and I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. We had been sent the Spa Relaxation gift set which included, two Scented Chakra Soy Wax Candles (which both have crystals inside), a bar of soap in a small canvas bag, and six glass tubes of essential oil scented bath salts. The items were presented in the box with homey elegance, which really screamed quality. What we thought of the Spa Relaxation Gift Set ?

As mentioned before each of the candles are hand-poured soy wax, in a simple yet elegant white frosted glass, topped with a walnut wooden lid. Each of the candles are infused with essential oils, crystals and natural botanicals.

To begin our review we will start with Crown Chakra Scented Candle, which is filled with small amethyst crystals, has a large wooden wick, and is scented with, lavender and frankincense. I set a match to the wick and it took a little time to fully light, and once it did the candle began to melt. What surprised me was how evenly it melted and filled around 1cm of the top of the glass with a pool of warm liquid. You could no longer see the crystals as they began to sink into the liquid, but from that, you got a really nice warming smell from the lavender, and with a back note of spice from the frankincense. The smell filled the room without being overpowering.

The second candle, was the Root Chakra Scented Candle, with cinnamon and cedarwood. This actually smelt quite fresh in comparison to the warming of the Crown Chakra. The scent from the cinnamon seems to clean the air and the woody smell from the cedar wood gave it an earthy edge. This was my favourite, and I briefly burnt it in the morning, one day, and then put it out, and left the house to do some shopping, on my return I could still smell its fresh woodiness filling the downstairs of our house.

I really love the candles and have been looking for years for soy wax candles that have a beautiful smell, as an alternative to other big brands (that come in big jars!) you may know about already. A lot of other branded scented candles are made with liquid paraffin that actually releases toxic chemicals into the atmosphere when burnt. Whereas soy wax candles don’t contain these pollutants and contain significantly less soot than paraffin wax candles.

My one and only critique with the candle is the wick, I found that prior to the wax melting the flame on the candle was quite high. That being said, we are all aware of the fact that candles need to be kept out of reach of little people, but with these, I would also make sure they don’t have anything above them too close either. Once the candle had melted the flame did reduce to a more normal height. But really this is the only bad thing that can be said, as I absolutely love the candles and I actually can’t wait to try some of the other scents that Holistic Earth have to offer.

What did we think of the Soap?

Holistic Earth Soaps are Vegan and Cruelty-free, contain no Sodium Lauryl Sulphate parabens, no palm oil and no synthetic colours or fragrance.

So, next up we have the Lemongrass Soap Bar, that came packaged in its very own canvas bag, which is perfect for gifting. I have to say in our house we love barred soap and have quite a few already on the go. But I was eager to try this and compare it to what we have. Firstly the scent was amazing, as soon as I took it out of the bag you could smell the freshness of the lemongrass. I took it to the sink and wet it slightly and gave it a rub in between my hands. It lathered up really well, and much more than the barred soaps we currently have. I was really impressed with the softness that was left on your hands once I rinsed off the suds and how nice it still smelt. As many barred soaps can smell really ’soapy’ if you can get what I mean, whereas this smelt of lemongrass!

This soap is also suitable for hair and face, although we only tested it on hands for the purpose of this review. But considering how much the soap lathered up I can see how easy it would be to use on your hair, and the softness it left on your hands, I can imagine it would feel the same of your hair too.

The key ingredients for the Lemongrass hand/face/hair soap is: 
Coconut Oil, Olive Oil,  Aloe Vera Oil, Castor Oil & Shea Butter

It is said to restore your hair and skins radiance and includes the nourishing ingredients listed above.

What we thought of the Bath Salts

The bath salts came in a thin glass tube and were closed at the top with a cork, and labelled with string and a small card note. There were six tubes and five scents, which included, Lavender, Rose, Peppermint, Lemongrass, and Orange.

I chose to try out the lemongrass, which you may think why?? but I wanted to compare the scent to the soap! I loved the smell of the soap, but as soon as the salts hit the water the smell of the lemongrass was even stronger than the soap and had a super freshness to it. It really was a refreshing soak, and when sat there, it cleared my senses, and really helped to wake me up. Not only that it again filled the house with its beautiful scent – not overpowering in any way just fresh and lovely, so much so that when my children came home from school they wanted to try out the others as they loved the smell so much.

What’s also lovely about the bath salts is they are topped with flowers that float along the top of your bath and make it look pretty and romantic as well as being holistic and healing.

The prices really reflect the current market of people who are creating their own hand made soaps, and over the last few months, I have attended many a Christmas market and smelt the array of handmade soaps on offer – none that match up the ones Melissa makes for Holistic Earth.
