We were sent this lovely Ready to Decorate Teepee by Hobbycraft and it is great timing too as its school holidays and we are always out of idea on what to do with the kids to keep them occupied at home as heading out can be quite costly at times. The poles were very sturdy and the canvas quite strong and well made to being with. The instructions very straight forward too. We would recommend leaving the tent white as it is and just draping it with some fancy lights or coloured cloth if you are not keen on drawing and painting it. We did not have a chance to do that as our kids had other ideas! They both sketched a draft drawing on what they wanted on their side of the tent and then we headed to the garden when the weather was better to paint the designs…of course, us adults helped too. We used acrylic paint to paint the designs on and once the paint dried up, we attached some butterflies to it and used sharpie pens to draw outlines on the drawing. Instructions
The instructions were pretty simple, my daughter did more of the pole insertion while my husband (who was tall enough) help us to insert the hole in the pre-made hole in the tent and tied the poles up. It was relatively light and easy to move the teepee from one location to another. Have a look at our video to see more photos and unboxing details. Here’s what’s stated on the box:
- Insert the wooden poles into the canvas slots and spread the legs out to form a Teepee
- Using the canvas strings attached, wrap around the top of the poles to secure together
- Tie back the Teepee doors and you’re ready to play

What we thought of the Teepee?
To be honest, we totally loved the teepee as we had this opened up in our living room to create a cosy corner for them as it was raining outside. This allowed our kids to have a good time playing inside it, they did everything from reading to watching TV to getting all their toys inside. They also brought in cushions and made the tent really cosy. When the weather was not as wet, we brought the teepee out to the garden and they had a play about outside, so its versatile inside and outside. Painting the teepee and decorating it also gave our kids the chance to learn while playing and got us as a family to do the activity together which was really good. We, adults, found painting the teepee very therapeutic as well and enjoyed the bonding session with our kids. Our only qualms would be that there were no decorating paint or sharpie pens provided with the kit and luckily we had some already in the house, for others this might be an expensive gift if you add the decorating tools such as buntings, glitter, fabrics, paints, pens, felt as well. But all in all, we totally loved this and would recommend it as a present for little ones to allow them to be more creative.

This is nice craft for kids to do and enjoy afterward. I don’t small kids now but I remember my boys like playing inside tents, which is something similar to teepee.
