When it comes to kids keeping them entertained can be hard – And we all know how much they love their phones. Trying to find ways that they can use their phones creatively and productively can sometimes be hard, but our latest review can do just that.
Canal Toys‘ Studio Creator – Video Maker Kit LED Deluxe is the perfect set for your budding filmmaker. The set contains atmospheric lighting that can be used to adorn your child’s room creating the ultimate stage to set their video. It also has a handy green screen creating the perfect backdrop, whether they choose to superimpose a cityscape or make themselves look as though there are deep in the jungle, they can be as innovative as they choose.

What we thought of the kit
Firstly, what’s in the kit? The kit contains; one LED ring light with a USB power supply (you can connect this to a USB adapter plug, so it’s easy to use), one smartphone holder, power and brightness control with a 3m USB cable, one adhesive LED strip – that is five meters long, again with a USB power supply and finally a 2mx2m green screen.
The Video Maker Kit by Studio Creator allows you to make all kinds of videos, the ring light is one of the best kinds of lights when filming faces. It generates the optimum amount of light balance across the face ensuring that there are no shadows when capturing the best shot.
There is also a standard ring light which has 12 colour modes in total. The colour modes allow you to change the atmosphere of your video, but can also change the effect of your video as your face will look slightly different in colour depending upon the mode that’s chosen.
As well as the ring light there is also a strip of LED lights that can be placed/stuck on the walls around a room. These will help to create an atmosphere and add another dimension to your videos.
My daughter particularly liked being able to put these lights up in her room. She loves to create videos – especially with her brothers, where they often re-create film scenes together or skateboarding and biking stunts videos.
The kit helps to diversify a child’s creativity, by allowing them to play with lighting combining many different effects. The green screen has many of the same opportunities for creativity. You can access apps online that will allow you to change your background into different images and merge videos and photos. My daughter loved being able to change them into so many variations. It makes the video making so much fun.
Just something to note, the kit is aimed at over 8-year-olds but does mention the use of creating videos for Instagram, TikTok YouTube and Twitch, all of which require you to be at least 13-years-old to use. So just something to bear in mind, however, you don’t need to be connected to any of the apps to create your videos. You can just create them on the video section of your phone.

What a great kit and perfect for the younger generation to make their crazy fun videos, I know about this on a more professional level and would definitely have got this for the kids so they could be creative

It’s so great that this kit comes with its own green screen. I can imagine how much fun kids can have by editing the video with so many wacky backgrounds. The ring light is also very useful, even for the parents’ tik toks haha.
