[Ad] We love Advent Calendars and what more….we also love chocolates, so you can imagine that Christmas time is one of our most favourite time of the year as we love our Chocolate Advent Calendars.
There are lots of different types of Advent Calendars being sold in the market from Gin themed calendars, beauty-themed calendars, to even candle themed advent calendars, the prices for these can range from just a couple of quid to a hefty £100+ each depending on what you pick.
But why pick the same old, uninspiring and standard off-the-shelf advent calendar, when you can design a personalised photo calendar at a similar or lower cost? In this post, we feature and review FotoInsight’s photo advent calendar with kinder chocolate on our site.

If you head to FotoInsight’s website, there are lots of different types of photo calendars you can pick from such as fill your own photo calendar, photo advent calendar with Ferrero chocolates as well as photo advent calendar with Kinder chocolates both in portrait and landscape design.
You are also able to personalise the advent calendar by adding text, choosing your special photo and even adding a design template to the image to make it look more festive.

We picked the large personalised photo advent calendar with chocolate surprises kinder chocolate, Kinder Country, Kinder Bueno and kinder chocolate Bons as both our kids love Kinder Chocolates and to be frank so do we adults.
The whole process was super easy, all we had to do was picked our favourite family photo and then head to Foto Insight’s website, pick our choice of calendar then upload the photo. It was that easy.

There are two sizes for this product, the 30×21×3.5 cm or the 48×36×3.5 cm which is the XXL size…. we, of course, opted for the XXL size. Our order did not take long to arrive, it was well packed and came undamaged.
The box was made with good quality cardboard and the photo came with a silk matte finish and was lovely…as you can see both my kids were beaming when they saw the advent calendar for the first time. For the benefit of our readers …we had a cheeky peak to see how the chocolates were presented.
Of course…no chocolates were eaten in the making of this post….we will adhere to the strict advent calendar rule and wait for the 1st of December to sample the chocolates.
What did we think of the Photo Advent Calendar?
- It is a fabulous way to celebrate memories or experiences which you have experienced in that year
- The advent calendar is not your traditional off the shelf design, you can personalise it by adding text, choosing the photo and designing the layout as well
- It is a great gift idea and surprise for the receiver and they know you have gone the extra mile for them
- You can choose your favourite chocolate such as Ferrero chocolate or Kinder chocolate or even the standard chocolate, depending on your budget.
- The photo is professionally reproduced in superb print quality
- This is a cool present for Godparents to get their Godchild / Godchildren
- Our only qualm is that we would have liked it if we could reuse the Advent calendar again for next year as we don’t want to dispose of the beautiful box. It would have been great if FotoInsight had some sort of a clip instead of the traditional perforated cutout so that it can be reused for many years in the future.
How much does the Photo Advent Calendar cost?
They can cost anywhere from £7.49 for a standard photo Advent calendar to £31 for a large personalise photo calendar, and sizes range from A4 to XXL. Our calendar which we have featured in this blog post cost £24.99. You can order a similar one for yourself here.

About Advent Calendars
When did it start?
The tradition dates to the mid-19th century, when German Protestants made chalk marks on doors or lit candles to count the days leading up to Christmas. The First Printed Advent Calendars Gerhard Lang is widely considered the producer of the first printed Advent calendar in the early 1900s.
What is an Advent calendar?
Consecutive doors are opened every day leading up to Christmas, beginning on the start of the Advent season (1 December). Often the doors are distributed across the calendar in no particular order. Little surprises are kept inside the door from candles, chocolates, little toys, notes etc.
