Essential Children’s Flip Flop Review featuring Gumbies*

Gumbies are back on our blog, but this time to suit the younger members of your clan. We were sent three pairs of Gumbies for our three youngest members of the house, just in time for the last part of the summer holidays but flip-flops with amazing durability that will certainly be lasting them much longer than the summer sun!

Gumbies have partnered with us for some time and you may have read several blogs before, but as you will be well aware they are normally aimed at adults and comprise of either flip-flops, sliders, sandals, and a range of indoor-outdoor slippers. They are an Australian-inspired brand based in the UK, with a focus on sustainability. Gumbies push themselves to use ecologically sourced materials to make their unique footwear. Keep reading to find out what we thought of these children’s flip-flops.

What we thought of the Gumbies Flip-Flops for Children.

Gumbies are a firm favourite in our house and to be honest, I have been waiting for them to introduce kids’ shoes into their collection for some time. The fit of Gumbies is always a little on the small side in the flip-flops and sandals (apart from the size 3 EU 36, as this tends to be spot on). So I was sure I had ordered correctly when I ordered half a size up from my children’s usual size – I only had one issue with my youngest, where they were a little small, so we managed to swap these to a size up.

They fit incredibly well, stay in place on my kid’s feet and look great too. Unlike a foam flip-flop, they look a little more stylish and more expensive, even though they are priced in pretty much the same bracket. They are made from a material called recycled gumtread – which is what is on the outer sole and is made from recycled rubber and jute, and the strap from recycled cotton. I like the fact that the areas that touch your feet are cotton. It feels soft and is more comfortable than a plastic strap. They’re extremely light and although flat are sturdy but still flexible. They really feel a good quality shoes, which for me is important when my children are wearing them.

Gumbies are a brand that can be trusted, as each time we review a different product the quality and durability are consistent. I do hope that in the future they will add more ranges, such as the Scrambler Sandals or the Brumby Boot, as I know my kids would love these too. Fingers crossed they might do soon, and hopefully, we will get to tell you all about them!
