Summer Walkabout Review: Gumbies Gumtree SlidersGumbies are back! So, if you love a summer shoe you need to check out our latest review, of the newest style of Gumbies.

If you read our blog we have reviewed several Gumbies over the past 18 months, and one of my personal favourites is their slingback sandal, but my husband absolutely loves and is very often wearing them (inside and outside of the house!) the Outback slippers. Gumbies simple designs, have one firm focus and comfort and durability.  So if you want to make a flip flop swap this summer take a look at the latest designs Gumbies has on offer and keep reading…

What we thought of the Gumtree Sliders

The Gumtree slider, also comes as a flip flop and sandal, and my husband chose the slider, just for a change really and wasn’t disappointed, he loved the style and fit of these, although, I think this time the sizing felt a little more tight than usual. The sliders are made from a narrow foot (luckily my husband has a narrow foot), so if you have a narrow foot I would recommend the flip flop, as they have a bit more room. They were also only just right on the length, so we would recommend sizing up.

The comfort of the slider is unquestionable, like with all their products they are light and so comfortable to wear, its tricky when its time to take them off, as you can hardly notice you have them on your feet. The Gumtree slider is also super smooth, which adds to the comfort, its made from a newly developed material (by Gumbies), with EVA (eva material meaning) and wood chippings and is uniquely and quite cleverly called Treeva! Within the slider you have a thin cotton layer which has been added to avoid chaffing which certainly seems to do the job, and on the bottom is their classic sole which you will recognise originally from the Islander Flip Flop.

Another plus with this Gumbies flip flop alternative, is that the colour is natural and means it really goes with anything. You could easily wear these at the beach bumming around by the sea, or by the bar in your chinos with a lightweight linen shirt and a chilled drink. So if you’re limited on your bag size for your breakaway, don’t worry as you will only need to pack one pair of shoes. It won’t even matter if it rains, as they will hold out getting wet too (of course not for too long).

About Gumbies

Created through its founders love of Australia, Gumbies came from the idea of ‘walkabout’ an Aboriginal tradition/right of passage, where between the ages of 10-16 they take their first nomadic adventure and discover the land in which they live. From this concept the Islander Flip Flop was born, and is also referred to as the 1000 miler.

Michel Maurer is the founder and creator of Gumbies and his time in Australia, and traveling around the globe paved the way for this innovative shoe company to take hold.

He has a strong desire to create inventive products made from newly developed materials, which he hopes will stand the test of time. His innovation allows him to use components they may otherwise be left in landfill and creates them into functional everyday flip flops and sandals.

Maurer is constantly developing new ideas that take on a simple and everyday style making his brand one that is set to last. You can style, comfort and functionality all in one place.
