Outerwear Review: Helly Hansen Men’s Park Insulated Rain Parka*

[Ad-gifted] My husband often goes for style over substance when looking for men’s coats. So, when he got asked to review Helly Hansen‘s Men’s Park Insulated Rain Parka, he couldn’t wait.

Most people will have heard of this brand and know already what a great coat this is likely to be, however, what we will be looking at is how it styles and the functionality – in terms of water-resistance, materials used and wearability.

What my husband thought of the Rain Parka?

Firstly, he loved the colour of this coat – called Penguin, which also comes in Black and Navy. From the website, we had assumed the coat would be thicker, but it’s actually quite thin and light, however, this doesn’t take away from the warmth. The Helly Hansen Men’s Park Insulated Rain Parka is warm, light and waterproof.

The water literally runs off the coat, see our insta reel video to see what we mean. The style is also a big pull. My husband doesn’t normally like branded text on a coat, but with the Helly Hansen’s logo on the hood it’s not so obvious.

What I loved about this coat is that the waterproof aspect isn’t obvious and it looks like a stylish coat rather than a rain mac. I also liked that it was PFC-free, which we as a household find important, as we like to reduce unnecessary toxins coming into the home.

As you will see from the photos the coat is quite long (my husband is 6 foot 1 inch) so consider this if you are on the shorter side – or don’t like such a long coat, an alternative could be Men’s Dubliner Insulated Long Jacket or Men’s Urban Lab Helsinki 3-in-1 Coat, both are still a longer coat but not quite as long as the Helly Hansen Men’s Park Insulated Rain Parka.

I have to say we were both impressed with the quality of this coat. Helly Hansen is a recognised brand but not one I have heard about for some time, but it’s not hard to tell from the quality we’ve seen how this has continued to be such and longstanding brand. The coat comes in at £210 which for the style, quality and functionality of this coat I would say is an acceptable price – this will last you a few years and can be passed on when you’re ready for a new style.
