You might think from the title we’re about to review a recipe or a trip to a nice new restaurant, but no! We are actually about to review a whole new bunch of board games sent to us by the wonderfully creative Board Game distributer Asmodee. Board games are great especially as we are getting into winter and the nights are darkening and the weather in dampening! These are an exciting way to occupy the children or get them out on family night in, for everyone in your house to enjoy!
Equally, board games are a really good way to fill in a pocket of boredom that might occur at the weekend. We don’t always want to get in the fresh air, and when you want your kids to have time away from their screens there’s no better way than a board game and it certainly makes much less mess than playdoh! So for our first of three reviews, we have this fun and easy to play card game, which can be played from two to five players, called Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.
What we thought of the game
I have never heard or played this game before and although the instructions are included in the box, I still couldn’t quite figure out how to play so I actually found a ‘how to’ video which made me realise how simple it was to play. You basically mix up the cards, dish out 12 cards each and be sure not to look at them and keep them face down – then player one pops down their first card and says TACO, next player and next card says CAT, and so one – each card has these words written on, when one of the player says the word and it so happens to match the card – you basically do what you do in snap and slap down your hands, first player down wins the cards.
This is such a fun game, my eldest boy said I love this, let us keep playing. What is so great about this game is its simplicity. We did struggle as I mentioned before to read the instructions and work out the game, but check out our video on how we played it so that you won’t have this problem. Once all my three (ranging in ages between, 6 – 11) worked out how to play the older two were constantly winning. Although my 6-year-old worked out how to play it, and really loved it, at times he just wasn’t fast enough at slapping down his hand when the cards matched the words. But I am convinced after a few tries he will really get the hang of it.
So, our list of why this game is great continues…I also love how small this game is, you might think you aren’t getting your money’s worth but, you are, as it is just so playable. It also fits easily into your handbag, so when we are finally able to get back to eating out, it is a great one to play whilst waiting for your food to arrive. It would also be suitable for travelling too, as again it is small so will fit in your carry on and can easily be played on the plane. So wherever you go, you can pretty much be sure that you can take this game along with you. To top it off, it would make a great gift for Christmas, as it will post through your door too, so if you can’t make it to your families house for Christmas you can always send them a fun game to let them know you’re thinking of them.
