Children’s Book Review: The Magic of Liverpool FC *

Our 5-year-old son loves football and seeing that its Worldcup season at the moment makes it even more fun and exciting for him. He is into football terms, learning about penalty shootouts and wants to know who is playing and what their scores are. He’s even learnt all the top football players names by heart.  So when we were contact by My Magic Story about reviewing a personalised children’s book titled The Magic of Liverpool FC, we could not pass this.  Although the company has created a few personalised book, we were told that The Magic of Liverpool FC is the first book on the market that contains a customised story based on Liverpool Football Club. Read on to find out more about our review of the book.

The book was relatively easy to order online.  We were first asked to select the gender of the child, we picked ‘boy’ for Thomas, keyed in his name and picked a protagonist which resembled him the closest. Next we were asked to key in a free personal message which would be added into the book (if we wanted to). You can see the print screen shots of how we did it, its that simple.

It took less than a week before the book was with us. Soon as we received it, we noticed the Liverpool FC hologram stamp at the back of the book to indicate that that the book was an official licensed product. The book had 42 pages and the paper as well as print quality was great. Also loved the hardcover of the book which made it more stylish.

The book is recommended for kids aged 10 and below. Thomas quickly took to the book and enjoyed reading it immediately. He took a couple of days to finish reading it and with mum’s help as well.  He immediately recognised Mo Sallah (who is one of his favourite players at the moment). The book allowed the reader (in this case Thomas) to be the main character in the book and apart of the team as his name was indicated almost in every page and allow him to go on an adventure with the players.  It also gave him the chance to share a changing room with Salah, Firmino, Mane or Henderson and the chance to play with the team.

Here’s a quick sneak peak video if you want to have a look inside the book

Positives

  • This book is absolutely a great present for any Liverpool Football Club Fan
  • Although sent from Barcelona, the book arrived perfectly packaged and in less than a week of ordering.
  • You can add a personalised message for free
  • This is an Official Licensed Product
  • A minimum of 9 players from the first team will be present in the book, so you are guaranteed to see your favourite players featured.
  • Totally loved the illustration in the book
  • If you have made a mistake when ordering the book ie typo in the name, character selection or the personalised message. You have up to 20 hours to make the changes.
  • Thomas enjoyed being apart of the team and he felt that he scored the goal

Negatives

We can’t think of any negatives, just that it could be a little too long of a read for a 5 year-old for one seating as its quite wordy. I am guessing any 7-year-old would have read this easy on their own. That being said, it was fine for me to read the book together with him and he was so happy being involved in every stage of the book.  We only hope that more books like this would be created for the other football fan clubs.

How much does the book cost and how can I order one?

The standard book is priced at £26.90 including VAT but for just £4.99, you can upgrade your book to a 2mm card hardcover. You can order a copy of your book here.
