What did we think of the of the Gel Blaster Surge?
The Gel Blaster Surge guns arrived fully charged with a hopper (800 “Gellets”) full of hydrated starch based “Gellets” (your ammo) hence kids could get started playing with it and not wait for 2+ hours (overnight soaking is recommended) to hydrate the “Gellets”. I also loved the fact that the “Gellets” are stain-free, eco-friendly, non-toxic, non-irritating and burst on contact. It is much better as the Gellets disintegrate and you don’t need to be going around picking it up upon impact (as you do with water balloons).
The “Gellets” are soft and squishy but because they travel up to 170fps (frames per second) they do sting a little when they hit you, so I would recommend not being too close when shooting each other. They can shoot up to 100ft in distance (so stand back if you want to).
Although suitable for kids aged 14+ and above, both my children aged 13 and 11 enjoyed playing with these Gel Blaster Surge guns. My kids used shorts as it was a hot day but had to change to long trousers and long sleeves later as they really enjoyed shooting at each other..(as siblings do).
Remember to always keep the protective eyewear (this is included) when playing with the Gel Blaster Surge. If you own a number of these Gel Blaster Surge then you could group the players into teams and swap the coloured fins during team play.
The Gel Blaster Surge comes included with a lithium battery and this holds around 4-hour of play-time. Hence I foresee a lot of fun play time when the kids have their friends around.
This is such a fun game for teenagers and trust me, it will get them out of their rooms for a fun time in the garden.

- The “Gelletes” will expand 10X their size, hence make sure you use a large enough container and plenty of water ie 1 gallon bucket for 1 10,000 gellet pack. Don’t worry about using too much water, as you cannot overhydrate your “Gellets”
- The “Gellets” are eco-friendly, non-toxic, non-irritating and burst on contact
- Keep Hydrated “Gellets” in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight and the elements
- Dehydrated “Gellets” last indefinitely while hydrated “Gellets” should last up to 2 weeks . If you want to keep them longer ie up to 3-months then keep them fully submerged in water
- Remember to keep safety glasses on at all times and use long sleeve shirts and long trousers if you find the “Gellets” sting your skin
- You have the ability to adjust the power/velocity . Two barrels are included to adjust your velocity (White: Maximum, Orange, Minimum). If you’re battling a newbie and want less sting, you can drop the velocity to as low as 90 Feet Per Second with the Orange barrel. For more intensity, you can increase your velocity up to 170 feet per second and shoot over 100 Feet using the White barrel (pre-installed)!
