Fashion Review: Peacebird Clothing – Womenswear Instalment*

I have to say some of my favourite reviews are clothes, and our latest is certainly something different.  Peacebird is a stand-out brand with a unique style and is one that I couldn’t miss out on being involved with.

A Chinese company that wants to branch out in the UK that is aimed at the mid-way point in the fashion market.  Slightly higher in price than the usual fast fashion makers, and much higher quality.

With a slower aim and a focus on unique styles and nice fabrics, this isn’t the usual concept we are perhaps used to when it comes to online Chinese fashion stores.

What we thought of Peacebird women’s clothing?

Peacebird, is a well-established brand in mainland China, with 4000 stores selling its uniquely designed clothing. We were sent a range of items for women and children, see the photos to get an idea of the types of things they have on offer. 

The first thing I noticed was how nice the website is and how unusual and stylish the clothes are on there. They are very much less westernised in style than other Chinese companies, which I think works well to make them stand out. They sit well with a slight anime vibe, however, don’t let that put you off if you don’t want to look like a character from a Manga film, as there are plenty of classic looks and items that will suit a range of tastes.

I chose a floral dress, some denim shorts and an oversized T, shirt, and a tie-dye t.shirt with twist detail. The shorts are made from a good quality denim fabric and are well made. They are shaped with a wide leg, which looks great and is very much of the moment. The tie-dye top and dress were a perfect fit and well made. The oversized top was actually too big, but their customer service was great and they were happy to send a replacement (note that refunds and exchanges may vary and for any enquiries regarding this you will need to contact Peacebird customer service, as we do not have details on their policy). The other items I did manage to size correctly, although I have to say I found trying to find my size tricky. 

The sizing on the site in the adult section is quite small and quite irregular. So some appear to come in sizes XS-L while others only go up to M. When I say L, this is around a size 10-12. However, the oversized T-shirt would easily fit a size 18-20. So again, it’s a good idea to look at their clothing measurements and try to measure them out on paper or yourself before buying. I feel if they are truly trying to aim at the UK market – it would be good to have their sizing with UK size equivalent – but perhaps in the future, they may consider this.

In terms of fabric quality and manufacture, Peacebird scores highly on this front. They have nice quality and feeling fabrics. The synthetic mix of the adult dress is nice and feels floaty and irons well (on low heat). The T-shirt is of medium thickness and the cotton feels decent too. The only downside is that the washing instructions are in Chinese. But it’s pretty easy to see that they are machine washable and the temperature, but I think Peacebird would benefit from having a clothing care page on their site so that people can head there to check the wash details of the clothes they purchase. 

All in all, I can guarantee that I will be keeping a close eye on their clothing. I feel like Peacebird provides you with an insight into the TRUE fun and colourful fashions from China that we often don’t see and personally I think that kids and adults alike can have fun with the clothing from this brand. If you need a comparison to better place this brand, it can be easily related to Zara in Europe and Old Navy in the USA.
