Review: The Squeeky Cleaners – Squeeky Life Spray Bottle Bundle*

I have to confess, I love cleaning. I am a proud member of the #HinchArmy and thanks to Mrs Hinch’s tips, I have a constant supply of Zoflora and I love seeing my oven or bathroom sparkle after a good scrub.

With an ever-increasing awareness now of nasty bugs thanks to the spread of Covid-19 and a need to minimise contact and germs, cleaning our homes thoroughly has been something many of us have been doing to keep busy this lockdown.

I’m sure there are those out there like me who stocked up on bacteria-killing sprays in a battle against corona virus. The one thing I do question, however, is the amount of chemicals I’m now spraying around my home. Another concern is the array of single use plastics all these sprays come in. It’s like choosing between reducing plastic waste or reducing life-threatening bacteria! It’s a minefield!

When I received The Squeeky Cleaners Life Spray Bottle with concentrated organic cleaning solution to review it was like both problems were taken care of – I could be mindful of my use of single-use plastics and I could clean my home organically.

Starting in 2016, The Squeeky Cleaners was founded by Claire Nicholas in Wiltshire, who began her cleaning business around the kitchen table before expanding and moving into premises next to an organic scientist. Using her earlier gained aromatherapy and holistic knowledge, Nicole developed a range of organic cleaning products that her team of cleaners trailed with excellent results.

The range now includes aluminium refill bottles and concentrated solutions for everything from floors to windows and specific problem areas such as limescale removal.

What I first noticed when I received the bottle was how busy the packaging is. Yes, it’s fab that it’s all eco-friendly but it slightly bombards you with what the product offers. I also couldn’t tell what it was called. Was it The Squeeky Cleaners? Squeeky Life Bottle? Organic-Multi Purpose? Another thing I noticed when looking at the range online was the only difference between each product bottle was a small tag line at the bottom of each bottle. So you have to be sure you’re not spraying your countertops with floor cleaner.

Whilst the branding is a little distracting, the aluminium reusable bottle itself is a nice shape with excellent usability. It is both robust yet light-weight and the spray nozzle evenly distributes the solution when triggered.

Now, of course, I know how effective good old bi-carb, white vinegar and lemon juice is, but as a busy mother-of-two, sometimes I don’t have the time to create my own mix. The Squeeky Life Spray Bottle Bundle comes with a concentrated solution of organic ingredients that effectively and safely cleans your home.

The ingredients listed include a natural degreaser and citric acid. You add half of this solution into the spray bottle, top up with water and you’re ready to safely clean your home. It worked really well on my oven top and left a lovely scent as I sprayed my countertops in the kitchen.

As I live in a hard water area, the limescale build-up in the bathroom is a constant battle so it wasn’t as effective on the glass shower door but there is a limescale solution available on The Squeeky Cleaners website that I’m eager to trial and will be purchasing when my regular bathroom cleaner runs out.

Overall, the branding and packaging left me bamboozled and a little overwhelmed but this doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a brilliant eco-friendly cleaner with a passionate company behind it.
